Eligibility Criteria for the APSC-CCE Exam

NationalityThe candidate must be an Indian citizen.
Regional Language ProficiencyThe candidate should be able to speak Assamese, another official language or associate official language of the state, or any of the tribal languages of the state.
ResidentshipA candidate must be an original inhabitant of Assam.
Employment Exchange RegistrationA candidate should be registered with the District Employment Office of Assam.
Small Family NormsCandidates have to submit a declaration regarding “The Small Family Norms” in Form-A at the time of applying for the C.C. (Prelim) Examination.
Age LimitThe candidate should not be less than 21 years old or more than 38 years old on January 1, 2023.

Educational QualificationThe candidate must hold a degree from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed to be universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess such qualifications as may be declared equivalent by the government. Exam phases for the APSC CCE


The APSC Combined Competitive Examination selection procedure will consist of two stages. Under APSC CCE, candidates must pass these two exam stages in order to be recruited. Below is a quick summary of both those exam phases as well as the APSC CCE syllabus.

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

The preliminary examination will consist of two papers of objective-type, multiple-choice questions of two hours each.

Date of Exam: 17th March 2024 (Sunday)

Types of Questions: Objective Questions

Total Papers: 2 Papers

Full Marks: 400 Marks

Duration of the Exam: 2 Hours for Each Paper.

Negative Marking: One-fourth of the total mark assigned to one question will be deducted for a wrong answer marked by a candidate.

Syllabus: The candidates may refer to the Assam Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019 for the syllabi of General Studies I and General Studies II.

Exam Centres: Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Biswanath Chariali, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Diphu, Goalpara, Golaghat, Guwahati, Haflong, Hamren, Hatsingimari, Hojai, Jorhat, Kajalgaon, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Mangaldoi, Morigaon, Mushalpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, North Lakhimpur, Silchar, Sivasagar, Sonari, Tezpur, Tinsukia, and Udalguri.

2. Main Examination (Written and Interview)

The main examination consists of (A) a written examination and (B) an interview test.

(A) Written Examination

The number of candidates to be admitted to the written part of the main test will be approximately eleven to twelve times the number of vacancies announced for each category, based on the results of the preliminary examination. Selection criteria will be based only on merit, with respect to the upward and downward reservation standards stipulated by the applicable laws.

Type of Questions: Essay and Objective Questions

Medium of Exam: A candidate shall be allowed to write his or her answer papers in English or Assamese.

(B) Interview Test

Name of Exam: APSC CCE Main, 2023

Type of Exam: Interview

Full Marks: 275 Marks

A ratio of between one and three will determine which candidates are invited for interviews based on their performance in the written part of the Main Examination and the number of positions that were advertised.

The candidates’ final ranking would be decided by the marks they received in both the written part of the Main Examination and the interview.
